Refund policy
This English version is a translation. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
The pieces offered by Paul Ledron Design are design objects handmade in Côte d’Ivoire, as unique pieces, limited editions or open editions.
Because they are handmade, slight variations in colour, grain, texture or finish may exist from one piece to another. These variations are part of the character of each object and are not, in themselves, a defect.
Subject to any mandatory rights the customer may have under the applicable law, sales are firm and final, and returns for convenience are not accepted beyond any statutory withdrawal period.
Cancellation and refund terms depend on the type of piece.
Statutory right of withdrawal
Where the applicable law gives the customer a right of withdrawal for a distance sale, it can be exercised under the conditions and within the time limits set by that law.
For consumers covered by European Union rules, this period is in principle 14 days from receipt of the piece.
Where the right of withdrawal applies, the customer must notify the studio of their decision within the applicable period, through the contact form or the email address given on the site.
Return costs are borne by the customer where the applicable law allows it and the customer has been informed beforehand. Given the size, weight and value of some pieces, these costs may be significant.
The piece must be returned complete, with any accessories and certificate, and protected by packaging suitable for transport. The original packaging should be reused where possible.
The customer may be held responsible for any loss in value resulting from handling beyond what is needed to establish the nature, characteristics and proper functioning of the piece.
Where the law provides for it, the refund may be withheld until the piece has been received back or proof of its shipment has been received.
Pieces made to the customer’s specifications or clearly personalised may be excluded from the statutory right of withdrawal where the applicable law allows it.
Unique pieces
Unique pieces are already made at the time of ordering.
Full payment is required to confirm the acquisition.
Outside any applicable statutory right of withdrawal, if the piece has not yet been shipped, a cancellation request can be made. In that case, 75% of the amount paid is refundable. The remaining 25% is retained for costs already incurred, in particular preparation, storage and administration of the order.
Outside the mandatory rights provided by law, no cancellation is possible after shipping.
Limited editions
Limited editions are produced on the terms specified when ordering.
Unless otherwise stated, production starts once a 50% deposit has been received. The balance and any remaining costs are paid before shipping.
Outside any applicable statutory right of withdrawal, the deposit is not refundable once production has started and is retained for manufacturing costs and costs incurred.
Outside the mandatory rights provided by law, no cancellation is possible after shipping.
Open editions
Open editions are usually made to order.
Full payment is required before production starts.
Outside any applicable statutory right of withdrawal, if the piece has not yet been shipped, a cancellation request can be made. In that case, 50% of the amount paid is refundable. The remaining 50% is retained for starting production, sourcing materials and costs already incurred.
Outside the mandatory rights provided by law, no cancellation is possible after shipping.
Special orders and commissions
Special orders, bespoke pieces or pieces made to the customer’s specifications are subject to a prior agreement specifying in particular the nature of the piece, its technical characteristics, its price, the indicative lead times and the payment terms.
Cancellation and refund terms are set out in writing before the order is confirmed.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, deposits are not refundable once production has started.
Where the applicable law provides for it, pieces made to the customer’s specifications or clearly personalised may be excluded from the right of withdrawal.
Limited commercial warranty — 12 months
Paul Ledron Design grants a 12-month commercial warranty from the date of delivery against structural defects or manufacturing defects attributable to the making of the piece.
This warranty may cover in particular assembly defects, abnormal structural instability or, for the pieces concerned, an electrical malfunction attributable to their manufacture.
This commercial warranty is in addition to any applicable statutory warranties and does not replace or limit them.
For consumers covered by European Union law, the rights under the statutory guarantee of conformity continue to apply for the period set by law, which is at least two years from delivery (EU guarantee rules).
Natural materials and handmade production
The following are not defects when they reflect the normal behaviour of the material and do not affect the safety, stability or intended use of the piece:
natural variations in the colour, grain or figure of the wood; the nuances and particularities of natural materials; slight variations resulting from handmade production; natural movement of the wood linked to reasonable variations in humidity or temperature; and the normal development of patina and surfaces over time.
The warranty does not cover normal wear, knocks or accidental damage, use that does not match the purpose of the piece, inappropriate care, unsuitable storage, excessive exposure to humidity, heat or sunlight, or modifications or repairs made without the studio’s prior agreement.
Damage found on delivery
On receipt, the customer is asked to inspect the outside of the packaging and, where possible, the piece.
Any visible damage that may be linked to transport must be reported to the studio as soon as possible and ideally within 7 days of receipt, so that a claim can be opened quickly with the carrier.
The customer is asked to keep all the packaging until the claim is settled and to send photographs showing, as far as possible:
the outer packaging, the inner protection, the shipping label and the damage to the piece.
Where possible, any damage visible at the time of delivery should also be noted precisely with the carrier.
The time limit above is intended to make it easier to handle the transport claim and does not deprive the customer of any mandatory rights they may have under the applicable law.
Manufacturing defects
Any defect that may be covered by the warranty can be reported to the studio as soon as it is noticed.
Detailed photographs and, where necessary, a short video may be requested to allow an initial assessment at a distance.
After reviewing the situation, Paul Ledron Design may offer, depending on the nature of the defect and subject to the applicable statutory rights, a repair, the replacement of the part concerned, the replacement of the piece, an appropriate price reduction or a refund where the circumstances justify it.
The arrangements for any intervention and, where applicable, transport are determined according to the nature of the problem, the location of the piece and the applicable legal obligations.
